Analyzing the Historical and Religious Claims of the 2x2
Fellowship

The Genesis of the 2x2 Movement

The 2x2 movement emerged from the Protestant sensibilities of the Restorationist movement in the late 20th century in Ireland, inspired by a Scottish evangelist named William Irvine.  It was characterized by a growing desire to return Christianity to its original 1st-century form which challenged mainstream Christian orthodoxy. Its foundational claims were initially met with skepticism, but they gained traction through preaching and tent revivals that facilitated the rapid spread of its core tenets.

Over the following century the movement evolved into a complex ecosystem of religious claims and historical narratives.  My research aims to examine these narratives, providing a critical lens through which the historical accuracy and theological consistency of the 2x2s can be rigorously examined.
